Torre a Cona

In the heart of Chianti, just 15 km from Florence, is the magnificent estate of Torre a Cona, dominated by the eighteenth-century Villa, property of Count Rossi di Montelera. The villa is surrounded by the estate vineyards and the olive groves. In this place, carefully preserved over time, are produced fine wines. Tourists come for a stay in the farmhouses, and to visit the historical cellars or to experience the tasting room. The Torre a Cona Estate covers an area of 700 acres of which 40 are dedicated to vineyards, while the rest are covered with olive groves and forest, representing the typical landscape of the Tuscan hills. The estate is located at an altitude of some 350 mt above sea level and the vineyards are planted with different exposures. The soil is predominantly limestone. The vines are cordon trained and spur-pruned with an age that varies between 10 and 18 years old. Over the years a gradual renovation of the old vineyards has been carried out with rigorous criteria, respecting the unique peculiarities of the soil in the various estate plots. A soil that has its very own specificity and that represents a unique perspective on Tuscany. On top of the extraordinary beauty of the landscape it provides the wines a well-defined character, a deep sensory profile with a very appealing drinkability.
